Copying and Pasting Between Tableau Desktop and Excel

Did you know that you can copy and paste from Tableau Desktop to Excel, and vice versa?

While you have Tableau Desktop, you can select the marks you want to copy (or Ctrl+A to select all marks) and then Ctrl + C

Open Excel, and paste (or Ctrl + V). You’ll get the tabular format of the values that made up the marks in your Tableau  view. Neat huh?

You also can take this data, copy it from Excel (Ctrl+C), and then paste into Tableau (Ctrl+V). Tableau automatically creates a data source for you, and presents this data back as cross tab:
